Calico/ Sugars are sweet although the picture you have posted in a Pastel Calico I believe.

I don't see the usual calico look in the white, so it does look like a Pastel Sugar to me, and a great one at that!!

I believe they go for around $2,000 for a hatchling sugar, but then again you pay for quality and it could be almost twice that depending on size and quality of the animal. A Pastel Sugar could cost anywhere from $5K to $8K again depending on quality.

Its one of my future projects as well. Hopefully I can afford a calico or sugar this year. One question though, what's the difference between a sugar and a calico?

Sugars tend to be more white as a whole on the lower half of the body. A calico is called a calico because of the white, brown(or orange), and black colors on the lower half of the body. If you've ever seen a calico cat or guinea pig, you understand what I'm talking about.

Even Dan from TSK said that the Sugar and Calico gene is most likely one and the same. I Think they are along the lines of the Lesser/Butter commonality.

Personally I think sugars usually have more white in bigger chunks along the body from what I've seen in pics online but its going to vary with every animal. I have a calico but hes a super low white and he ran me $600 as a hatchling. I got him though to produce a pastel calico of my own. I want to say I read somewhere that sugars where more of a european line, but I may be wrong so dont quote me on that one.

I really love high white sugar pastels. Is the amount of white random when bred like pieds?
I mean can a high white parrent produce low white babies?
