    Dog scent?
Will my ball python smell dogs on me.. and on accident mistake me for food? I assume it would, but I have a lot of dogs (not in the same room as the python) ..but at least one likes to jump on me anytime I go near them.

Also, would it be okay to take my ball into the bathroom to give him a light soaking in the bathtub during a bad shed? Although the dogs usually go in and out of it (not while I would be doing this obviously though) ..but again, I'm worried the powerful dog scent would put him into feeding mode

    Any thoughts?

I guess "no" since a dog is in a completely different order than this snake's prey. I have a big lazy rottweiler that likes to lay with my snakes. They sit on her just like they sit on me for warmth. No response at all.

Well I know BP's don't eat dogs.. just didn't know if the scent would do anything, as I thought I read here that a cat scent can make one strike or something along those lines?

hehe i've got one too! except mines a little too nosy for me to be comfortable with him around while theyre out. But its funny, my still-smallish burmese will start eyeing him through the glass whenever feeding time is over.

Your dogs will be safe, the snake does not associated a dog's scent as food because it's never eaten a dog. Now you snake may strike at your dog, if it senses danger.

As far was soaking your snake, try the kitchen sink if you don't have a sink basin near your clothes washer and dryer. More controllable size and you won't be leaning over, thus protecting your back. A simple bleach wash will clean the sink after the bath.

    Good Luck!

I don't look at it as just a scent issue but size also. I think they measure or size up their prey to a degree by their heat signature. If your dog (heat signature) is small enough or if your Bp is large enough to take one of your dogs then I wouldn't chance it.

Well like every one els said it shouldn't be a problem. Having the dog around the snakes may. We have a pit and shes very hyper and I think a little ADHD lol. But our redtail and one of our BP have struck at her but I don't think it was that they smell an animal and thought food but it was a get away from me you crazy creature. Lol
