My first Ball Python!

Thanks Foschi Exotic Serpents! I have named her Carlotta. I think she will like her new home, although she seems nervous now. :snake:

Nice one. Some advice, that water bowl is terrible and it needs at least 2 hides, one on the warm side and one on the cool side.

LOL all I can think of when I see that 2nd picture is Bart Simpson saying "Can't sleep, clown'll eat me. Can't sleep, clown'll eat me." lol

Yeah the water bowl came with the viv. I don't like it either. The thing behind her is actually a hide.

You're very welcome Dan! Beautiful set up you have there. I like how you cluttered it up with plants and stuff. The water bowl isn't that bad. It will be hard to clean after awhile but if you get one that is much wider it will help keep your humidity high.

Yeah I think she will take F/T from you pretty quick. Just be sure they are thawed and well warmed with a heat lamp, hair dryer, or hot water, and she should take it. She has always been an eager eater.

They only thing I have to say is that they like to be squished when they are in a hide. A snug hide is almost always the key to getting them eating regularly. For my small/young ones I put crumpled newspaper in the hides to fill up the space a bit.

Oh and since it's an open screen top, if you cover the entire left side with a big towel or seal it all off with duct tape, it will greatly help to hold in heat and humidity.

You can seal off the top with just about an inch or 2 around where the heat lamp is. This will help insulate it but there will still be plenty of air circulation.

Carlotta already seems to love her cave hide. That's true about the small hides. My corn snake Mika loves to hide under her ceramic water dish. It's a tiny space. When I walked in the room she had her head sticking out and quickly retreated when she saw me. Such a shy girl!

Yeah, I stupidly offered her a thawed mouse. No interest. In fact she seemed scared of it. I guess I should just leave her alone for 5 days or so and try again.

She's use to live but try thawed again after she settles and use long tongs or something. Usually if you dangle it in front of her hide when she's in there she will take it. Especially if you don't turn a bright light on and she spooks from your movement.

Don't worry. She will be out checking things out in no time. Remember that she is use to being in a small tub in a rack. She just needs to get use to her new home.
