ant to switch to rats size question
i wnt to the pet store and bought 1 rat for my spider female she is my largest at 400g...i want to switch to rats and found one about the right girth just weighed it and it is 80g...but is the right girth just slightly larger than the largest part of my ball...will this be ok if she can eat it...i will be prekilling the rat...any input would be greatly apricheated

thank you for the advice...i picked up a frozen rat 48g and my spider bp took it first try...she switched to f/t and rats no problem :)

80 grams is fine, a little on the high side. Try getting in the 60-70 gram range. That is around 16% the body weight of your animal. In the growing stage that the animal is in, feeding that size prey is perfectly acceptable. It really starts to matter when your snake reaches adulthood to really start sliming down the meals.
Fat girls = slugs
Fat boys = lazy
You want lean mean rat eating machines
Remember the 15% rule is a guideline. Snakes grow at different rates, you don't want to be making a faster growing snake hungry or over feeding a slow grower. If it's the right girth then your fine.
