    Frozen mice smell?
    I asked this question but in another on of my threads but i really need an answer now please.

    How are frozen mice suppose to smell? i just opened the package and it smells a bit funny not to bad but its just smells a bit funny and its kind of bloody?It kind of smells like a wet dog.

    I don't really notice a smell when they are frozen, but when they thaw, they do have a funky smell. As long as it's not that rancid, rotting smell, go ahead and feed it...

    Yeah it was me.the mouse smelled not bad but it was my first time feeding frozen thawed so i was a bit nervous i posted this question on like 1000 forums lol i even emailed/called the breeder to see.But the mouse was got and ounce i thawed him out he was a ok looking/smelling.

    yeah they dont smell when frozen but when warmed up they smell a bit

    Ewwww... :puke2: Been through that, i try to point the dryer the opposite direction of me, so i dont get a big wiff :P

    I mostly only notice the mouse urine smell, and it seems to be stronger with younger/smaller mice. If they were frozen immediately after being killed, that should really be the only source of stink--but as a dead animal, they will start to funkify after a few hours at room temp. And if you accidently cook them under a heat lamp and the snake "pops" them during constriction, then you'll REALLY get a nosefull...

    Thawing them under dripping water like a frozen chicken breast is a good way to get rid of the worst of the smell--and it minimizes the time they have to go "off". But honestly, my snakes seem to prefer the icky mouse smell.

    i just put the mouse in a bowl of hot water for bout 20 mins the let it cool for 5 mins then my snake eats it . he likes it more when it gets messy .
