GOSH DARNIT! i thought it was ok...
my son just recently finished a round of antibiotics for strep throat. normally with antibiotics the first couple doses kills off the infection and then the rest is basically overkill. i shared some pie with my son AFTER his antibiotics were finished but yesterday i came down with a sore throat and by dinner time i couldn't eat. i've had strep throat before but never during pregnancy (oh yeah, i'm 6 months preggers) so me not being able to eat cant be a good thing. my son's doctor told me my son would not be contagious after 24 hours on the antibiotics and he just finished a 10 day course. so...
if i got it AFTER the fact then my son still has it and the course of antibiotics he just finished DID NOT in fact kill off the infection completely...right?
i have a doctor's appt on thursday but i'm really not liking the idea of waiting 2 days with me not being able to eat, being pregnant and all.
    [sigh]
if i had the energy this would be me...> :taz: :tricho:
oh yeah i forgot to mention the tiny detail of me being allergic to penicillin which also means i cant take ANY other "cillin"...
    SON OF A...MONKEY'S UNCLE!

Drink milk if you can. Whenever I'm sick or whatever and don't feel like chewing but want something in my gut, that does the trick.

You might be able to try a Z-pack course of anti biotics, but I can't remember the drug name. See if you can get some more anti biotics for your son. But things like this is why I never share any food/drink with people.

Milk is hard to digest and makes your body work harder on digesting food than it does killing the infection. Dairy is the last thing you want to eat when you're sick.

Strep throat works a little differently than you may think. You probably contracted strep before he was even on antibiotics and didn't know it. Usually, you won't start showing symptoms for about a week after you contract strep.

What blackcrystal22 said. You probably got it earlier and remained asymptomatic until now.

here's an update for ya'll...thx for responding by the way...
we all went to the e.r...i know, not an emergency but by the time my bf's paycheck got into his acct (its some kind of paycheck card thing) it was really late and the doctor's offices were closed and my doctor's appt with my o.b is not until tomorrow...so anyways e.r was the best way to go to get us all seen at the same time.
all 3 strep tests came up negative (YAY!) but because we HAD strep in the house recently the doc put the 3 of us on antibiotics, just in case.
they used the word pharyngitis - and said it was just a big word for sore throat...but did not say if it was a cold or something. i dont FEEL like it's a cold cuz i dont have the body aches, sneezing, runny nose, etc...
normally for a cold i'd do my home remedy of chicken noodle soup, orange juice & echinacea which helps me fight off a cold ALOT quicker but being pregnant i cant take echinacea.
i dunno. whatever it is it better go away soon.
