    Torn tail, help!
    Well our male agama got caught on his climb and ripped half of his tail off theres no bleeding, the edge is red and hardened......its 11 at night so nothing i can do tonight. Any and all advice for help for our lil guy is GREATLY appreciated

    Forgot to mention we currently removed him from his cage to one w papertowels down and have cleaned him up.

    I have a local herp vet in the area but trying to not spend a arm and a leg. Want to make sure my lil guy is gna be ok though.

    can you snap some pictures? It sounds bad, but it's hard to really know HOW bad without seeing.

    I agree we need pics. From the description it may have to be amputated but again hard to make a determination without seeing it.

    Wash it daily with diluted betadine (color of light tea), you can get it any a pharmacy, its a antiseptic. You can also apply polisporn (the ones without the added "pain killers") afterward. How far was the break up the tail?

    Depending on how much "half" is. It will likely need to have the rest removed and it will likely turn black and start to fall off itself.

    Keep him on paper towels, apply neosporin daily til healed, monitor for s/s of infection.
