    Sad time approaching
I switched over to bps because of their life span, I have had rodents for years and have welcomed them into my life for 3years or more only to watch them pass beyond to the green fields of fried chicken and bananas. Now the time is coming for my oldest of my two last pet rats. I can sense the time is coming and im sad, I gave him the best life I could. He even stuck with me during my deployment to Iraq. I wish he would live forever!

I moved this to the rat section. There are a lot of rat lovers on this site!

It is terribly sad that rats only live for a few years :( My first pet rat died a few years ago and it was heart breaking. It wasn't till this fall that I got my next pet rat. Then I got another, and another

Sorry about your cute little ratties :(

Losing any pet is tough, I've lost more ratty friends than I care to recall, I feel your pain.

Hopefully they pass peacefully for you.

No problem! I took me a long time to find all the sub forums on this site! Most of the rat breeders on this site have a soft soft for rats and many have pets, if not all-they just might not admit it...

How someone cannot enjoy rats at all is beyond me. They're awesome. :D

I do hope your remaining rats pass peacefully. The one rat I had for his whole life (i.e., before I started breeding) got very sick for about a month before he died. Holding the big stud I have, who's probably no younger than 6 months but no older than 12 months, the one I had had to have lost half of his weight from being so sick, and he just looked like a dog; miserable and such.

That alone would have been hard, and because he died as well, especially since I never really had any close friends, I sort of closed up to the world. No one quite understands the loss of a rat compared to any thing else.
