Reptile Basics tank?

Hey everyone. Say I were to get a reptile basics tank for my BP, which size is adequate? I am having real problems keeping temperatures up on the cool side (70-72 degrees max) and humidity. I am looking into one of the premade tanks. I put him in a tub, which kept the temp A LITTLE better, but the humidity sky rocketed, and I even soldered holes in it.

To keep humidity down in tubs, use a smaller water dish. I have 3 different sized dishes that I've switched out on my blood python as needed.

I like 2x3 cages for adult ball pythons, and for the price you're probably going to want to buy an adult sized cage rather than need to get another down the road.

Hmm I think 70s is to cool for ur cool side should be low 80s with hot side 90s I too have used glass an i switched to tubs because it was a nightmare on hum an temp unless u insulate it. I went to tubs and poked holes used newspaper and smaller water dish to lower my hum my temps are near perfect all the time

thanks guys. I've had my ball for 2 years. I am just now having problems with temps and humidity because I moved ugh. Well, when I swithced him to a tub (42 quart) the humidity was just too high. I will figure something out .

What are you using for substrate? The substrate can affect the humidity aswell.

at the time of the extremely high humidity, newspaper.

I use an oscillating fan to circulate air through my tubs to help control humidity. It will also depend on how many and where your holes are. Can you post a pic of your tub?

If you do decide to get Reptile Basics cage, you will most likely have to include a radiant heat panel (RHP), because 70 is too low for the cool side. The RHP will heat the ambient temp in the entire cage, and right below it will be hotter than the other side than it is on. I use RHP's in plastic caging, and my cool side is right about ten degrees cooler than my hot side.

Although, I do not suggest housing a ball python in a plastic cage. IMO, they do better in tubs.

What do you guys use to heat your tubs? i am in the process of building my rack but i need a temporary warming solution for my tubs. humidity is fine but i am afraid to put a hot bad on the side of plastic... any ideas?

Any recommendations for a Borneo short Tail? Right now he is in a 20 gal glass tank. I got the temps right but i cant get the humidity at a consistent level without misting 3-4 times a day. I have a uth and use fir bark for substrate.
