Not sure how often to feed my Juvenile
    Hey guys,
I finally got my juvenile to feed on f/t about 3 weeks ago and he has consistently eaten one F/T rat pup every week since. However, he is still quite small/light weight for his age, should I bump him up to once every 5 days? I don't want to power feed, but 200g is so small for a 4 month old that I feel I should get him plumped up again quickly.

    Thanks,
    Fatal

mine was that weight at about 6 months. she is 400g now and still feeding well every week, I would stick to a 7 day schedule, as long as he's still feeding, i wouldnt rush it.

That's a very conservative feeding schedule. It won't hurt anything to go to every 4 or 5 days especially with rat pups. You could even bump him up to weaned rats. Stop worrying about this stupid "Power feeding" stuff...way too many people are hung up on that...

A five day schedule is fine for a young BP. People get all worked up about it for nothing. Every five days for young ones is better in my opinion because they've got a much higher growth rate, and need the extra food. Once you start to see his growth begin to level off as he gets older you can bring him back to every seven days.

I don't think 200 is a terrible weight for a 4 month old especially if he wasn't eating for awhile (it sounds like he might have?). You could definitely bump him up to every 5 days, even every 4 days. It doesn't hurt them to power feed, it's just when you get out of control that it can be worrying to some. They aren't going to die from eating more than the average bp. I like to 'power feed' my youngins. My power feeding is every 4 days, which many don't even consider power feeding. I usually just call it 'a heavy feeding schedule'.

I also wanted to say, generally the recommended feeding schedule for babies/juveniles is usually 5-7 days. So 5 is completely normal.

Good post Fatal! I was actually going to ask the same question, I got my guy yesterday and I was curious about the feeding schedule for a young snake as well. He was on a 7 day schedule with the breeder but I'm thinking of going to 5 day until he gets older. So it sounds like to me 5-7 days is normal. :)

    Thanks all!
Just fed him today, been six days since his last meal, great feeding response :). Gunna bump it up to every five days for a while, gunna post pictures of him soon; unique looking normal.

    Cheers,
