the great diva, Queen Elizabeth's drama! (as usual :D)
So, i started keeping an excel document of Elizabeth's sheds, urates, feces, eat and other little things... just for a spreadsheet and I could track trends and such...
my first record is on 12/27 (monday) of 2010, in which she finished sheding, and ate ravenously the same day. 3 weeks previous to that she had refused to eat while on her normal two week schedule... and zoom to the present... I attempt to feed her on 01/10/2011, which is exactly two weeks from her previous feeding. She refused. I attempted again, on 01/04... with the same rat that I had refrozen... I have since thrown it away because I do not want to try my chances with sickness and such so I have ONE MORE frozen rat before I have to go buy more... I have already wasted one (10 freakin dollars) so I want to make the next attempt successful....
It has been 18 days, or 2 weeks and 4 days, since her last eating AND shed (exactly)... my question is... is it common to shed twice in a month? like 3 weeks apart?
I assume she is going into shed because she was acting like this last time... and went on a hunger strike for 3 weeks then just shed one day and i was like... yay... and she ate that day... so.. and her belly is SLIGHTLY (as in minimally) pink.. and some of her belly scales are getting a little lose so I am thinkin shes shedding... I just wanted anyone input on what I should do...
she is in a tank, with dual hides, the hot side is an even 90 degrees, the cool side is 85 ish and the actual tank is in its 80s. I have a heat lamp over the cool side to up ambient air cause its cold right now and a UTH... with a big water bowl in the middle.. so yea... thoughts? substrate: newspaper, freshly cleaned.. and I just sanatized her cage last night... I do it once a month.. just for good measure :D and all her stuff in her tank. (and I let it air out before putting her back in it)

She is 4 and a half feet, weighing at 2.5 pounds. I weighed her the day after she had the full (rat pieces and all) bowl movement from her previous successful meal and she was 2.5 pounds... I have weighed her just as I was typing this and her weight has unchanged... and her tummy is a very pretty pink... I am 80% sure she is shedding... just not sure as to why... but then again i have not seen any definite articles or posts about the recurrence and usual time it takes to shed... I have a friend that keeps records of her 2 ball pythons and 5 corn snakes and both of her pythons have records of shedding irregularly... in one month her python shed like twice within a month... so I know I have heard of it other than mine... but yea... I am just paranoid (as all snake owners are) about the health of my baby.

Ah, ok. I was wondering if she was younger or older. My BPs have shed twice in one month a few times. I've never thought twice about it, they never officially stop growing so they'll always shed. And if she eats after a while and grows a little, she might shed in addition to her usual shed schedule. The only time you need to worry about excessive shedding is when there's a health issue, which can normally be seen on the skin. Mites, sores, etc.

well I did up her food size to "large" rat... not by my own accord... but my mother bought four rats in advance to "help me"... bless her heart... but I was used to feeding her medium... but when I fed her large... she took it and downed it... i thought she wasnt going to be able to... so maybe that is it... I used to feed her once a week medium now its 2 weeks one large... she seems generally healthy... shes been being active at night... bathing her self in her water, like little section by section... and looking around but generally not trying to escape... and I hold her everyday... she is active... firmly latches on my arm... i inspect her skin for sores and mites... i only see some faint pink ish... and a few random, orange places... but I saw those when she went into shed last time and freaked out and they went away after she shed so :D
