I need a techie! Wireless internet software help.

So before I go and download 5000 things from sites claiming to be the software I need, I'll ask the techies of the community.

Long story short: My dad went on a deleting spree and accidentally deleted the software that our Belkin wireless router needs to actually get the wireless running. Well, I cant find the disk with the software and I cant figure out how to download the software off the net.

I've searched on google, and obviously 4 bajillion sites pop up claiming to have the software. I'm almost positive I shouldn't use any of these sites, and actually use Belkin's site. I've searched up the software I need, and I can download it, I just cant open it. My computer says I need to download some type of file opener and recommended a few. I tried downloading one, and it didn't open the file.

So, I'm absolutely stuck. I have no idea what to do from this point.:mad:.

Should I just go and buy a new router and fool my dad so he doesn't have too and get all mad with me, or can somebody thoroughly explain to me how to download the software.
I'm simply a kid who knows how to push the ON button, and use the internet. I'm not good with downloading and coding and all this fancy business :P:oops:

And he deleted it off of the control panel where you can add or remove programs, not just the desktop icon.

go directly to the belkin site.. find the driver download tab .. enter your router info found somewhere on ur router.. download and install .. restart pc ... FIXED

also .. i had the same prob when i still lived at home .. set up accounts on your pc .. 1 for you 1 for your father and so on.. make yours the admin and dont allow him to remove whatever he wants ...

Because...

I found the disk. It was in the one place I didn't even think to look. In the disk compartment in the tower of the desk top... I feel like an idiot :(

well as long as its working thats all that matters .. im curious why u couldnt do it from the site though... ive done it a million times

I tried to download the software from the site, but for some reason I couldn't open it on the desk top. My computer said I needed some kind of file opener. We are getting a new home computer in a couple days to replace the current hunk of junk we have so I hope no more problems surface after that.

that really doesnt make sense... unless you are trying to open a .rar file while not having winrar or any freeware equivilent... or you maybe... MAYBE could have download a .dmg file (which is mac) and windows cannot open that neither can winrar... but a basic .zip file will open with the programs that come with windows :D
but either way, goodjob on finding the disc :D
