Red underside

Hi everyone, I need help with something.

When I picked up my ball python today to hold him, I noticed there is a slight red/orangeish tinge along most of his underside. It's not very severe at all; I barely noticed it. I've already heard about scale rot, but I am unsure.

Hmm I've never noticed a tinge on his underside before he sheds, although I've never looked either :P This makes sense as he is late for his annual shedding.

I give you props tho! Some people think their questions are dumb ( i know i did when i first started, i still think some of my questions are dumb :P) Due to this people don't ask the questions they have. Which can cause an unnecessary vet visit or a problem that could have been easily prevented.

Haha thanks, I'll admit, I'm kind of paranoid when it comes to making sure my snake is healthy and safe :P. Also, how often do you need to replace the bedding of a bp's cage? I always remove his waste after he does his business.

Depends on how big of a movement he had. For my balls i use paper towels so each time thye go its a full clean everytime.

If using aspen or sani chips daily spot cleans with a bi weekly swap

So you replace all of the bedding every two weeks? I know he does not urinate in a liquid form so I always just pick up his waste and sometimes sprinkle a little bedding over where he did it.

funny :rofl: lol same thing happened to me yesterday. i see my pastel is getting ready to shed and set him aside in my shed tub where humidity is a little higher and his belly before the shed and his shed after were both a reddish tint. and ive had him for over a year and never noticed.

Aren't we all?

What are you using for substrate? I use newspaper... 1. It's free! 2. Works just as well as anything else out there. 3. Easy to clean, just swap the old newspaper when your snake makes a mess with a whole new set of newspaper.
