    Help with female
I have a normal female who has been in with a male twice with a lock witnessed the second time. In 3 days she has put on 47grams. she is looking a little bigger too. Is this too soon for her to be gravid and going into ovulation?
The weight gain seems a bit much for 3 days. This is my first time breeding balls to.

I'm also a newbie to breeding. However, from what I have been taught by the people on this forum. I believe that yes that is too soon. Some other questions be asked. First, what is her weight? Second, are you sure you witnessed a lock? BPs will tail wrap withou being locked. Third, Can you post some pics of her or them?

Hey, It was definatly a lock as I could see through the side of the tub. She was 1372g(empty) on friday and was weighed again today with all my others and was 1419g

I can't get any pics up yet as I am using my phone but will do tomorrow.

I have read that ovulation can occur 6 to 30 days after copulation but am not sure as she has only been with a male twice.

she may be building follicles, when she ovulates you will know it, she will look like she has swollowed a rabbit. she might just be building right now in preparation for ovulation. When did you feed her last?

Cool, keep us posted. I know how exciting it is and how anxious we as owners can be. Patients is the key. Also, from what I have read and been taught, she seems like she might be a little small to be breeding. I guess that depends on her age and her length compared to her weight.

From what I have read and learnt, over 1200g is ok to breed, she is 4yrs old and pretty big. I started her at 1300g.

I see one issue. Nothing grows unless it eats and/or drinks. Developing eggs does not make a girl weigh more. She has to use her own body fat deposits to make eggs. With that said I would say you either fed her accidentally and didn't realize it or you didn't weigh her properly the first or second time.

right. and IMO 1300 grams is incredibly low for a female to begin breeding. since you've already started her just be sure to keep a careful eye on her and weigh her often to monitor weight loss.
