New Snake Room Under Construction

The plan is to build 2 new rooms that I can keep my reptiles (primarily Hognose) happy and healthy in year round.

My basement has been hard to heat in the past and is just a pain to keep a growing collection happy in. So I've just decided to gut everything and build it all back with the snakes in mind.

When the rooms are all done I'll have 2 rooms to keep the snakes in. One will be for my adult hognose. The other will be for the baby hognose, a few balls and boas I plan to keep.

The adult hognose room will allow me to brumate them in the winter without having to move them out of there cages.

Here are some pictures of where I am as of today. First order of business was to tear out all of the previous owners crappy handy work. I hate people that half a$$ everything.

I have to fix the sump pump. The basement has only had water in it 4 times in the last 4+ years and that was when we had some hard rains. I figure it's still worth replacing the sump and doing a little waterproofing to protect my investment down the road.

You think the old pit was toast? They put a 5 gallon metal bucket in as a liner. :colbert: :lmao:

I spent an hour or so tonight cleaning it all out and breaking the concrete up in preparation for the new liner and pump that will be here next week.

For this project I have a new pump and liner on order.

For my pump I got a Zoeller as it is the most recommended sump pump out there. Zoeller Mighty Mate Sump Pump 3/10HP - M57 - consumersplumbing.com had the best price on this M57 (best for the money) I could find online.

It's a huge project but worth all the work.

For only a couple hundred it's well worth the piece of mind. I'm also doing some exterior and interior waterproofing. I don't want to have any problems in the future.

I use Animal Plastic racks for my baby and sub-adult stuff. My adult hognose, and boas will be kept in Freedom Breeder type caging. I'm still not sure if I will make them or just buy FB, I enjoy metal working and have all the needed tools to build the racks. I just don't know if I wanna take the time to do it.

The adult hognose room will have all metal racks in it. The other room will be all AP equipped.

I'm very excited about this project. :banana: I can not wait for it to be finished.
