    at what age you retire your females? i picked up a big older female and was thinking about breeding her but not sure how old is to old

    Hi,

    I don't know. I did breed my 16 year old girl this year with no problems if that helps.

    I wonder if they would start producing less eggs or more slugs or something if they were getting too old to breed?

    Any of you long time keepers have any input? :please:

    I believe oldest female in Sydney zoo was laying eggs year before she died and if i good remember she lived there 39 years or so..... so dont worry about it.. older bigger girl usually means more eggs.
    If she dont wanna go one particular year she dont go...

    Edit: yea but some input from "Old Timers" will be appreciated :gj:

    Last year I had a first time breeder that was 13 years old. She is back up to weight and with a Chocolate male now. He is only 450g, so I'm not sure that he will produce. She seems ready to go again. We'll see.
