    Triple Recessive morphs?
Has it been done? I know it would take a heck of a lot of effort(and many years) and the odds would be out of this world..I checked on the worldofballpythons genetic wizard and a triple het X triple het would have a 1.56% chance of making the goal triple recessive morph. I was just wondering if it is even possible for a ball python to be homozygous for three different recessive genes? So who has anyone ever made one or not? If pics are available that'd be sweet!!!

of corse its possible, but look at the work you basically have to go through...

    gene 1 x gene 2 =dbl het gene 1 n 2
    gene 1 x gene 3 dbl het gene 1 n 3

dbl hets = 1/16 chance for double recessive

    gene1/2 x gene 1/3 = gene 1 dbl het gene 2 n 3

gene 1 dbl hets bread together = 1/16 chance for triple recessive

best way I could figure out to do it.

Yeah that's how I figured it too...like I said lots of effort and MANY years. LOL.

We have our Triple Het Caramel Glow Genetic Stripes breeding this year so if we get really lucky we could see a triple Recessive! It's a 1 in 64 so lets hope for 64 eggs! :P If she goes I don't think it will be more then 6 eggs.

There are a few folks working on triples. Most triple projects "evolve/ are an offspring" from a double visual -- Lavender Pied or Caramel Glow for instance. It is at that point a third gene would be mixed in the from a visual or Het.

Some breeders are starting with triple Hets. The Sloan's are working the G-Stripe Hypo Caramel. In my opinion, to do a triple project WELL you should be prepared to hold back 50+ offspring. :D

To me the multi hets will be well worth it even if they never hit the multi homozygous combo. Sure when you breed a pair of quad hets you only have the 1 in 256 chance of hitting the quad homozygous but along the way you only have a roughly 32% chance of each egg containing a normal and the variety seen in the other 2/3rd's of the eggs will be staggering. You could breed a pair of quad hets their entire lives and not see every possible combo.

    deviating slightly

assuming someone hit the 1/64 odds, what sort of price would a triple visual (albino pied clown) be worth?

if albinopieds are $15-20k, a triple must be around the $40-50k mark?

it will be what ever someone is will to pay, because if you ask me, if you 16 times less likely to hit the odds, it should be worth 16 time more, but i don't see anyone paying a quarter mil for one, but mayb i'm wrong.
