My baby ball python seems sorta cold to the touch...is this bad?

the air temp is 85, i have a 100W ceramic bulb, with a small UTH. I dont have a temp gun and will buy one asap. But he seems to go away from the hot side and go into the smallest hide in the tank which was located on the cool side. He did this consistently. So what i did was moved the smallest hide rock onto half of the UTH (hot side), and the other half has a tree over it which also has a place where he can hide. The tree is also under my ceramic bulb so he can make the quick climb to bask under the heat if he wants.. The humidity is 60% also. It just seemed like he wanted to be on the cool side often, but that may be because he wanted to feel more secure.
So all in all, my bp doesnt feel warm to the touch, and i am wondering if that is a bad thing?

Hey there, It doesn't necessarily mean its bad because he can feel cold to the touch if your hands are warm. As long as the temps are right he is fine. He can choose whether to be cold or hot. Most people use 2 hides that are the same (or have identical in size) So the snake isn't choosing comfort over the heat they need to survive. Although, trust me, they wont let themselves freeze, but they do like to feel comfortable, as do we :P

Double check your temps and make sure they are supposed to be where they need to be. Nothing to worry about. Keep us posted! Id love to see some pics of your lil guy :D

If the ambient air temp is 85 and you have hot spots, you're good. The hot spots MIGHT be too hot in fact.

temp gun your skin temp. Humans are a lot warmer than snakes. For instance it's like hot water to our skin would be way too hot for a snake. Hot water to us needs to be 95+ degrees. More than likely the temps just fine if the temp probes are all good. I recommend a temp gun for like $20.
