het pied x het pied = 25% pied 50% het 25% normal ... how do people determine that there het are 100% when they go to sell them ?

You would only get 100% hets if you bred pied x het or pied x normal.

You can't tell the difference. In a Het X Het breeding people should refer to the normal looking offspring as 66% hets or possible hets. They are normals until bred and proved to be hets.

By breeding Het to Het the normal looking offsprings are considered 66% het and should be sold as such.

Only the pairing of a visual will give you 100% Het

with a recessive gene anything that you breed a visual to will be 100% as long as she's clean, not carrying any retained sperm for other breedings.

Think of an allele, which a a pairing of genes. To create a Piebald, you must have a pair of Piebald traits, we'll use "P" for the Piebald trait. "0" is a normal trait.
    (Both Het. for Piebald)
    Snake A______________Snake B

    P~0__________________0~P
    0~0__________________0~0

    Possibilities (When bred):

    Snake C___________Snake D________Snake E

    P~P ______________ P~0 ___________0~P
    0~0_______________0~0____________0~0
    (Pied)___________(Het Pied)________(Het Pied)

    Snake F

    0~0
    0~0
    (Normal)

1/4 are Normal; 1/4 are Piebald; 2/4 are Het Piebald

Result: 25% Normal; 25% Pied; 50% Het Pied

    Hope this helped:gj:
