Feeding - How often is enough?
Hey All - Happy New Year!
This past Saturday I attempted my first feeding with my BP Tango. It only took about a minute or so before he struck the Rat Pup (12g) I prepared for him and began to feed. Hopefully he will continue to be a good eater!
He is just a little guy at 102 grams - Is feeding him on a weekly schedule (each saturday) enough. I have read different posts and caresheets that suggest both a 5 day or 7 day schedule for younger snakes. I was wondering if one or the other is healthier or more suitable for his size.
Also, what is the typical amount of time it will take for a BP to have a B/M after feeding? Just curious to see what is normal...
Thanks
Re: Feeding - How often is enough?
It's common practice to feed young ones every five days. If you want to, and if he'll eat that often, I don't see anything wrong with it. I also think every seven days is plenty. It's really up to you.
As for the poop...it could be as soon as about a week after eating...or it could be several weeks before you see any. He may even poop within a day or two, but if so, that is likely waste from previous meals and not the one you just fed him. Young, growing BP's tend to poop somewhat infrequently because they are very efficient at absorbing so much of the prey into the energy of growing...it can take several feedings to build up enough to require elimination.

Hi Judy - Thanks for clarifying. When researching it seemed that this specific topic had little info.
