Setting up a night drop?...

In the past I always used my ranco thermostat and just changed the temps night and day until the end of breeding season.... This year I got a helix dbs1000 with the night time drop attachment cord... how do I use the cord with a timer..... Hints and Tips welcome and appreciated... also is there a better timer to get?....

I believe you plug it (the night drop plug) into the lamp timer and set the times for night time. It handles the rest.

I'm a big ran of the Helix and have a bunch of them with no problems. The night drop is pretty easy to use as the previous poster stated. My latest purchase was a Herpstat Pro, which was recommended by a fellow breeder because it has four thermostats in one, and has a built in night drop feature. It's been great for my multi-level Freedom Breeder rack because I can separate it into four different zones top to bottom.

Edit: I just reread your quote and realized you were asking about better brands of timers. Sorry can't help with that question. For the night drop on my Helixes, I use the lamp timers from Home Depot.
