alright, so i LOVE my snakes i really do, but im looking to get one lizard, something that will actually enjoy seeing me come home and y the cage. im leaning twords an iguana of some kind but really enjoy tegus because of how relaxed they are and i would already have rats on hands from my snake so a rat diet wouldent be that big of a pain in the butt, im not looking for run downs or the stock response "if you gotta ask u arnt ready" because i got a basic knowledge of some green iggys and b&w tegus but iggys have me scared because i hear they die really easy if everything isnt perfect any word on this?

this is just to give me some oppinions on pros and cons of both i dont want a geko or a bearded dragon lol so diffrent types of iggy species suggestions would be greatly appriciated

Well gosh I love it all and would have more if my hubby wouldnt divorce me.... kidding.

I have an iggy and have taken care of a tegu and another iggy. Ok so here is my breakdown...

Both can be crazy tempremental espescially during mating season. I have seen mellow fun iggys (gizmo) and I have seen mean ones. I have dealt with amazing mellow tegus...and then took care of one that I thought was going to kill me a couple of times. Both can be unpredictable. But I have never heard of iggys dying easy. I know there are some sites out there that will tell you a little protien is ok once in a while. ITS NOT!!!! Their kidneys and liver cannot handle it and it will cause failure after a while.

So....I know I did not help you huh.......sorry. Just be sure you have the room and you are prepared to handle such a large guy. I love all my lizards and wouldn't give them up for anything....(bites and all) Oh by the way....those bites hurt a million times more than when I was biten by the snake. :tears:
