How high can feeder mice jump, if at all?
Hi, so what's happening is I bought a feeder mouse today for my bp because he hasn't eaten in about a week and a half, and of course he doesn't want to eat it. I know you're not supposed to, but I always leave the mouse in his cage until he eats it. I have always done this and never had any problems with it. So the issue that I have is that I have not finished building the middle section of the top of his cage, and there is a small gap that is just big enough for a mouse to squeeze through if it wanted to. How high can a feeder mouse jump, if at all?

I have caught wild mice before and they can jump very high, but I have never seen a feeder mouse jump. His cage is a little taller than 1 ft.

    Thanks,
    Austen.

I'd fix that immediately. Not only for the mouse, but what keeps the python from using it to get out?

A few inches at most. The best way they have to get out of containers are with their claws, if they can find a groove, they'll use it to get out.

Umm...I don't know what type of mice you watch jump "a few inches" but I have seen then jump up to the top of a ten gallon tank and hang on to the rim with their litter hands. That is almost a foot.

Rodents can jump pretty high when motivated. Don't take the chance.

if you cut their cape off, they can't jump as high.
