    Another food size question.
I need to order some frozen rodents and want to make sure I'm getting the right size.

Sylvia, my daughters BP, is 5 months old and 235 grams.

I'm thinking of ordering either rat pups or weanling rats from The Mouse Factory. Their website says that Rat pups average 27g, 3" and weanling rats average 35g, 4".

    Here are pictures of both.

    Weanling rat - http://themousefactory.com/rates/images/_r_weanling.jpg

I'd like to get weanlings, but I'm afraid some of them might be to big. Which size would be best for Silvia?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Jennifer

Rat pups will be fine. Even with variations in weight. If you follow the 10%-15% guidedline, a 235g snake should be able to handle prey size 23g-35g...

I would think the pups may work, the weanlings are too big although the pups are just a tad on the large size.

I feed all hatchlings once they hit 200g rat pups till their 5-600 grams. Then move to wean rats till their 800grams and then small rats.

I feed every 5 days so smaller meals work best for me and they grow like weeds
