Ball python transport

Hello everyone! I'm new to bp and I had a question about transporting them. I am in Florida and need to take him to New York. What is the best way to go about this? And is it very stressful for the snake and if so how can I keep this stress down?

cooler or styrofoam box. thats my opinnion thats whay i will be doing. with a heat pack just in case.

Normally a "gunny" sack works pretty well, doesn't allow light through so they feel safe. Be sure to use adequate filling for the box, and make it clear that the package is Perishable. This is all according to you having them shipped, if you yourself are driving; you can just use the "gunny" sack and forget about the packaging :D

Marking it anything other than Species name and how many are in box is illegal.

marking it live harmless reptile or perishable is a felony.

Can be small hand writing on shipping label or stamped on the box and or use stickers. Though MANY do not do this since most are not aware of the law.

Me personally working with snakes day in day out(day job) ive yet to see a box go out and or come in marked whats in the box.

What? Really? Where did you find this out, and do you have a reference?

I have NEVER received a bp via anything OTHER than a box marked either "perishable" or "live harmless reptile".

And is it the LACK of the species name and number that's illegal, or the inclusion of "live harmless reptile" or "perishable" that's the problem? Because both of those things are true.

Read the Lacey Act for shipping Live animals. All boxes must be properly marked common name and species name. Live Harmless Reptile isnt enough according the Lacey Act.

Edit- you can use live harmless reptile on the box as long as the species name and common name are on box. But misleading labeling is where the problem lays

I'll be driving so I have no need for the markings. But thanks for ur quick responses. I just had another question my bp just sits near his cool hide and very rarely goes to his warm basking area. Also the ambient temp. is 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Is this good for the snake or is it too cold?

Ambient temp of 75 is fine what is the ground level temps on each side

Right around 70 degrees as it is a little wet to keep humidity. Is that okay? I'm getting worried that he will get too cold as hes a little not too active.

cool side ground temps need to be 78-84 and warm side needs to be 88-92.
