what size flexwatt?

I am building a six shelf rack for 28qt bins. I was thinking of using 3" flexwatt but I didnt know if that would be the best size to use. Also I was going to zig zag it as I wanted to use it for belly heat. Or do you think it would be better to have one piece per shelf?

If you're going to zig zag it across the rack 3" sounds about right for 28qt's, but if you're going to do individual pieces you might be better off with wider tape, or use multiple pieces of 3" to cover more floorspace.

How would you set it up if you used one piece per shelf? Would you have a seperate power cord for each one?

Yes, but as long as all the tubs are identical with the same sized piece of flexwatt, you can hook them all up to the same thermostat.

How would I plug them all into the same thermostat? Could I plug them into a power strip then plug the power strip into the thermostat? And which way do you think would be better?

You can wire them all together, and use one power cord. It is not that difficult. You just wire two pieces to each side of each piece, and then use one piece on each side to hook into the next piece until you reach then end. It takes a lot of cutting and stripping, but it is worth it on the long run. I just converted my 41 quart rack from back heat to belly heat this way. I used one foot of 12" flexwatt for each level.
