New proven female not eating - which route to take?
So I got this proven female on November 9th. The guy told me that she's bred the past two years and was eating live small rats ("I can't guarantee you she'll eat F/T"). I figured I'd give it a shot because I've switched over a couple of balls that were going on 13+ years of eating live in the past couple of months. Since then, I've tried feeding her about 4 times...live small rats. Nothing.

She's plenty heavy enough to breed, so she's been cycling since 12/1 and has had 3 locks so far. I figure I can go one of two ways with this:

    1. Keep doing what I'm doing (cycle & pair, trying to feed her when I separate them and feed the male)
    2. Stop cycling and focus on feeding, then continue pairing in a month or two if she starts eating

I've called the breeder and my setup is almost identical to his, so I'm not sure what the problem is at this point. On the plus side, the hatchling I got the same day has switched over to F/T :)

I moved your thread, I think you'll get some better advice in here since you are asking about breeding/cycling her.

I personally would keep pairing her if she has plenty of weight on her. Keep offering live once a week since you know she eats that, and hopefully she's get herself together. If she's not ready to breed again this year she won't.

Sounds good - yeah I wasn't sure where it should go.

    Thanks!
