    BP bites V. Boa bites
so what do you all think, any stories?

i've been bitten by a BP twice. we all know it's nothing, but i then got bit by a 2.5 ft. red tail, and it hurt like a mother.......it was a feeding response strike so does that have to do with it?

I just got tagged by my 2226 gram female bp lastnight as a feeding response and it hurt like HECK! I have the wound to prove it too, and it bled like there was no tomorrow. She also got me right over a bonem which made to bite even worse. I know they younger ones, you barely feel. But my big girl really got me good

I have both a BP and a boa. To me, quite simply, the boa is much more aggressive in general, and has larger teeth. Boa teeth are also curved:

And that's not even a large boa. Throw in a feeding response strike and it'll be pretty nasty.

I've honestly never been bitten by a bp, but I've been bitten by a (baby) central american boa, and I actually didn't notice it had bitten me until I saw the blood. It was a baby though, so I don't think I wanna offer up my arm to an adult to compare :P

Never been bitten by a BP, not even when I removed my 4500 gr. rescue from her eggs. Although she did hiss up a storm ;)

I have been bitten by a young redtail boa though, OOOOUCH. It wasn't fully grown, but not exactly small. It got me good, too, right between thumb and forefinger. She also hit a bloodvein, but it bled under the skin, had a golfball sized swelling within seconds, sheesh. The hand was blue and black and green for many days and I picked teeth out of it days later...LOL

Boas are much worse haha :D

I've been bitten 100 + times, most of these have come from wild snakes which have come onto roads, houses, or other areas that may put it in danger, so I will rescue them, and help conserve many less applicable species of my area (If they are of that species, if not of course it is catch and release).

I would rank bites this way (All in adult form); Ball Python, Corn Snake, Eastern Garter Snake, "Lake Erie" Water Snake, Black Rat Snake, Red Tail Boa, Black Racer. The only reason the black racer comes first, is not because it has a single stronger bite than the tail, but in the wild, I've never seen a more hostile snake, it is the only type of snake that has ever chased me. They are relentless and extremely intelligent, and have broke out of most enclosures I have seen them put in, and if they cannot get out of the building, they will wrap around a fixture and look outside of a window looking outside.

One snake that looks to have a nasty bite is the Eastern Hognose Snake, however they have never bitten me, even while in a defensive position, they will sometimes strike but wildly miss, and eventually "puff" out, and if that doesn't work they will play dead.

I've been bitten by both and I think it's just how hard they get you. I got bitten by a 9ft boa and it felt like a punch. I bruised up and bled a little, but I don't think she clamped down hard. I had teeth marks, but she didn't go very deep.

A BP bite is a joke.... Theres nothing about it that hurts. If it latches on and twists its uncomfortable and you might cuss a little and laugh at the same time but thats it.

Do you know what really hurts and scares me? A dislocated shoulder! Nothing and I mean nothing comes close to that pain and sound it makes trying to go back into the socket. Any snakebite comparred to that is a Saturday morning cartoon to me.
