I think my snakes are confused.
Well, I went with the advice I got here. Not saying it's bad advice, it's not. I put both of my males in with my female to try and and get aditional locks. Both males ignored the female and tried to lock up with each other. I'm serious, tickling each other with there spurs and tail wrapping. I don't know. They both probed out to be male but magnum is showing more weird signs now. Avoiding his heat pad, laying on his side , and getting the kinkies all along his back. All these signs are taking place after I seperated him from the other two. Just thought you all would like to hear something kinda funny.
Re: I think my snakes are confused.
hmmm most people don't suggest putting 2 males in the same cage together, ive seen male combat before, then again at shows i have seen 2 male snakes keep locking up and the breeder pulling them apart and they'd lock right back up lol. so guess it happens.
but what your describing sounds exactly like what a female would be doing, i don't know how probing works, but if you pop them, there is no mistaking a male. if your sure its a male, I don't know. hopefully someone else can chime in
Re: I think my snakes are confused.
I don't know haw to pop them, I've tried but never can get it. Afraid if I keep trying I'll hurt them. I have probed them, thought it showed male for magnum, How many scales should the probe go for male/female?

DON'T believe this!!!!!!

Do you have someone expierenced around who can pop? I suck at popping too, but they say practice makes perfect. What you really need is someone to show you how to do it, and then you can do it on your own.
That is so wrong it is dangerous. :taz:
The female probes much shallower than the male and stops with a definate end with no give.
A male probes deeper and has a springy feel to the end of the pocket.
If you probe all the way to the tail congratulations you just rammed the probe through their genitalia or body cavity. :rage:
We say gentle for a reason and the above is it.
Seriously stop probing your snakes immediately until you get someone who knows what they are doing to teach you.

Please research before giving advise like this on the forums...No one should ever attempt to probe a snake without being trained in person by someone who knows how to do it properly. You have given some wrong advise here that can kill an animal if tried by the OP!!
Re: I think my snakes are confused.
Thanks Dr. Del, I knew that already. I had a friend of mine who is a vet taught me how to probe, I was just verifying the measurements with you all. I would never push the probe all the way to the end of the tail. That would be just stupid on my part. But it seems like I have been goofing up, Max is probing out to be female. So I removed her and put Magnum in Maggie, Looks like there is no way Maggie good locked up with Max or should I say, Maxine. I feel like an idiot. I was told that it was male when I bought it 3 yrs ago and never bothered to check for myself. Well, now I know. Thanks for all the warnings.

agreed!
Re: I think my snakes are confused.
OMG! I just read my post. So sorry everyone. I haven't tried to probe myself (Thank god). I had heard it from a local breeder and never double checked. Geez. Sorry again. I'm usually better about triple checking my info.
Can my post be deleted? Thank you bp.net for saving yet more animals.
