How to differentiate between orange and green ghost (hypo) and compatibility?

Ok , I am a little confused on what a green ghost and what an orange ghost looks like. I've seen several differant photos of ghosts and I assumed that the green would have a green tint and the orange of course had an orange tint to them. I've recently come across a few photos claiming to be orange ghost that clearly have a green color to them and vice-versa. Can anyone provide clear examples of each ?

I am familiar with several orange ghost combos but will the green ghost combos look similar or do they have a differant color to them?

Lastly, I believe I have a green ghost..... can anyone clarify what other ghosts are compatible?

ok orange hypo just describe the tint of color it is, they are all regular hypos, you can take a orange hypo and breed it to another orange hypo and get orange, yellow, butterscotch, maybe more colors, its just a color phase.

now up until a few months ago, I always herd green hypo was not compatible with the regular hypo. but then someone found them compatible so there is either two lines of green hypo or someone missed the odds before.

Your most likely have the same line of hypo most everyone else has, so its probably compatible with most hypos. I don't think you'd get one form a special line without knowing it, its kind of a selling point.

My understanding is that many lines of orange hypo are compatible with each other, though not all. I know for a fact that Bell Orange hypos are compatible with NERD Orange hypos because I've produced orange hypos from a Bell line orange hypo male bred to a NERD het orange hypo female. I've seen many CH orange hypos available for sale over the years, and there is no way to know if they are compatible with the more established lines until the breeding is done, so it's good to inquire about the breeding lines when purchasing since I think there are potentially many lines (oranges and others) out there now.

I'd read in the past that some green hypo lines are compatible with orange hypos. I have a hypo male that was produced by Jay Nelson (Chico Reptiles) from a green hypo male and a het orange hypo female (female originally from EBN). Unfortunately not all green lines are compatible with the orange ones so determining compatibility is a matter of trial and error, or staying within the same or proven lines.

P.S. I'll try to post pics of some orange hypos later for you. I know what you mean about seeing people post "orange" hypos that don't look very orange. Like any morph, there are variations in color, and some that I've seen do seem to have a greenish or yellowish hue. Perhaps that is due to green or yellow hypo having been mixed into the breeding in its ancestry, or perhaps that is part of the normal variation in color expression.

So basically, it is simply named after it's coloration as I suspected? Is there anywhere online that shows the differance between the differant color variations. I've looked but keeping coming up with mixed results. Does the color phase even come into play at all when making combos? Would a Pastel ORANGE ghost look differant than a Pastel GREEN ghost or Pastel-Butterscotch ghost , yellow etc...

yes a different shade of hypo would look different, but a pastel with a different shade of yellow will change the look also. usually people don't care about the color phase of the hypo that made it once you get into combos, you look at the snake a decide if you like it or not.

Like most morphs, selective breeding can play a BIG part in how good your hypos look.

these are some of the better examples of yelows and greens I've seen anyone showing off. It sounds like a lot of hypos are a PAIN to photograph!
