Destined To Die, swap out.

Hey everyone as some of you know i got two baby balls one wasnt looking so good but its getting to the point im sure she will die, this is whats wrong tell me if you know what this is.

She wont eat anything didnt really want to at the store, she attacked a mouse, it bit her back. She is skinny , looks like she hasnt drank much but she drinks often, she wiggles her head back and forth stairs up when she does it, she threw up 4 mouse pinkies she took with a bit of poking in the face 24 hours after she ater them. She has fold in her skin and keeps streching her mouth open.

What is this? im sure she will die now becase she is so skinny and acting soo messed up, so tomorow im going to see if i can trade her back to the store for a new one if not well ill get a new one some way...

I didn't think pinkies could bite back.

Also face poking isn't exactly the most stress free way to feed. It could just be stress causing this all.

How long have you had her?

Sounds a lot like Inclusion Body Disease unfortunately. Go ahead and research that a bit and tell me if those symptoms seem to add up. Typically it gradually gets worse and is always 100% fatal. Hope it works out for you. Also the fact it is very contagious, I wouldn't get another reptile from that pet store if you decide to swap or go back. Good luck, hope your snake comes around.

Oh I forgot to add, quarantine this animal away from your other snakes or reptiles. IBD can quickly wipe out a snake collection.

Sounds more like neurological problems than IBD.

Snakes with IBD dont eat for what reason i dont know. Since the snake has regurged, dont feed it for 2 weeks. Keep the temps up and humidity HIGH. High humidity will help hydrate the snake a bit. If needed you can hold snake and dip its face in water to show it the water and drink it more.

Offer Pre killed Fuzzy mice, Hairless mice would be better as hair can cause irritation to the stomach lining with regurge victims.

Actually early IBD snakes often regurge before going off feed completely.

And in Pythons they Decline Fast and rarely live a week once they have it. Another reason i say its NOT IBD.

Although it is more common in boas, pythons do regurge as well. But loss of motor function goes more quickly.

I work at this store heres the background. She came in a batch of 12, they were all placed in a 15g tank together, they all ate fine the 1st week then 3 didnt do so well we set them aside they all bounced back and ate by the month mark. We have had them at the store just about 6 weeks ive had her for 5 days. She seemed like she needed some extra help to get along so i bought her.
I waited 3 days before i tried to feed them the big one ate a F/T rat pup, she didnt want it so my other larger snake ate it (Acantha shes about a 1.5 yrs old) so i defrosted a hopper, no dice. The next day i bought a small live feeder thinking maybe my big fat hand and if being dead had a problem. She struck the mouse on the shoulder, it turned and bit her on the neck it was more in the white then in the pattern. she recoiledand was scared of the mouse after that, later that night i offerd her a T/F pinky she ate it after i put it in her mouth(she was so weak her mouth opened with no fight) i put it in less then a centermeter she bite it and ate, same with the next 3.
Next day she throws them all up they reak she keeps swaying and yawning now today she hardly moves is more limp then ever before looks more amaciated and hasnt crawled more then 8 inches all day.

she is in a tank with the other baby i bought, and Acantha had to meet them when they came home because she could smell them and wouldnt stop tapping the glass until i took ehr out and she got to see them, shes made no pyshical contact with the sick baby but she ate the rat pup she declined. The other 2 seem perfectly fine.
