    Ghost VS Hypo??
First off, is there a difference between the two?
I recently purchased a het. caramel glow female that was from a caramel to a hypo, and I found a Ghost male het. for caramel online that I would like to purchase.
Would these two work together in terms of making a caramel glow? Are the two compatible or would I just be making more hets with no 12% chance at a Caramel glow?
    Thanks

In ball python lingo ghost = hypo, they are the same thing.

Yes ghost and hypo are the same thing, ghosts name caught on because, well look at them, they look ghostly. they should be called hypos which is short for hypomelanistic. It also makes it confusing, because a hypo x axanthic cross makes what is also called a ghost, but I guess we call them "true ghost."

but yea you looking at your 12.5% chance, gl.

With ball pythons ghost and hypo/hypomelanistic are the same. Some argue quite correctly that we really should use hypo since "ghost" was a combo in corn snakes years and years ago. The equivalent combo in balls is called true ghost and if we can ever fully make the conversion to using hypo then maybe the ball python combo can be called just ghost without confusion.

A homozygous hypo het caramel to a double het hypo caramel would produce eggs each with a 1 in 8 chance of being hypo caramel.

    Hi,

Just a note of caution - there are ghost lines that are not compatible with some of the others so be sure to ask which type of hypo both animals are.
