    Breeding Confusion
I've been talking with a couple friends about breeding rats with me all together we need around 100 pups a week. We are going to only breed for pups and continue to buy adults. The confusion comes in with resting the females. Since they are only going to be nursing the pups for 2 weeks or less do they need as long as a rat who nurses a rat for the full 5 weeks. Also is 4 to 1 the best female to male ratio or is 5 to 1 ok? I'm sure I have a few more questions but none are coming to mind. I just don't won't to get in over my head with out a floaty. Lol

If you are just breeding for pups I would suggest that you separate the females from the males for them to birth in their own separate tub. The pups will grow faster that way and you can put the mom back in with the male as soon as you pull the pups.

If you need 100 pups per week you will need to have ten females birthing on a weekly basis.
