Coconut husk chips as a substrate

I have seen in a couple of breeder sites and some youtube videos that they use a different subtrates bisides aspen bedding.

I am thinking of changing my substrate from aspen to coconut husk chip ..

Since I am in Indonesia .. To get Aspen I have to imported myself, where coconut husk I can produce or make easily ...

I just have to make sure ... 'is cuconut husk chips good as a substrate ?'

holds in a lot of humidity. I am mixing coco and aspen

I just switched to it from paper towels for a display cage and I'm very pleased! It holds humidity very well, and where I was having to mist a couple times every day with paper towels I now only have to mist once every now and then.

I use coconut husk bedding. it looks good in display and it holds a lot of humidity

I also like coco products I usually use the fine ground type over the chips but I think they are basically the same.

People use it, but BG doesn't like it very much and has never used it himself.

BG forgets the name of the mall in Kelapa Gading. BG called it the Ace mall because it has a Ace hardware store.

Anyway when BG was there he noticed a pet store in it that sells lots of Zoo med products. BG seems to remember they had some substrate products. You can try there and see if they have anything you might use instead of importing it yourself.

You can always use newspaper. BG doesn't like that either, but plenty of breeders use it with success.
