    Medium Price Range Thermostat?
    Hi all,
I have ZooMed thermostat currently. It works pretty well, but I'm planning some snake-remodeling I don't plan on having too many snakes anytime soon (between 10-20 max) Does anyone have a slightly more expensive or sophisticated brand of thermostat they like for their small collection? I wanted to see about upgrading and trying out something new.

    Thanks!

Ranco and Johnson will run you about $80. These are on/off type thermostats.
The Herpstat and Helix will run you about $120- $140. These are proportional type thermostats...

A Herpstat Pro costs $320 and has 4 independent proportional outputs. That's $80 per output, so you're getting proportional control (and a whole lot more) for the price of on/off.

If you get a Herpstat, about $120, you will not regret it.

How do you have your current collection housed? Are they all in one rack, separate enclosures, etc? And how soon do you plan on expanding your collection and what are your plans for housing them, as far as, buying racks, building racks, enclosures, etc...

I use and LOVE both Ranco and Helix, purchased both from Reptile Basics. I have one helix for my baby rack, and a ranco for my adults and a ranco for my room heater. :D

10-20 isn't a small collection ;) Even small collections are worthy of a nice thermostat. In the long run you will be happy you bought a nice one! I love my helix. Sometimes I forget to check on it because it's always spot on and has never given be issues. If you're going to buy cheaper ones I wouldn't go any cheaper than a Ranco or Johnson. Both are good quality, but they are on off thermostats so they aren't a constant temp. If you go any cheaper than Ranco or Johnson you might as well use a lamp dimmer from Wal-Mart, it would be safer IMO.
