Water bottles or gravity fed water system for rats?
Just want to see what you guys use to water your rats.
    1) Water bottles
    2) Gravity fed system

And why do you prefer this over the other?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Less work for the gravity fed system. You still have to check it everyday for leaks and clogged nipples but that is easier than filling water bottles everyday. Rats are a lot of work so I believe you need to make things as easy as possible.

Gravity Fed, I have about 35 active rat/mice/asf tubs right now, I'm not changing 35 water bottles every day, heck the rats can drain a 5 gallon bucket in 2 days lol. alot easier to fill up 2 buckets rather than 35 water bottles

    Hey Dave,
Since I have a 4 tub rack I'm using two 32oz bottles per tub and it doesn't bother me....yet.:D

The gravity fed system makes everything SO MUCH easier.

In fact, I couldn't find the time in the day to breed rats without it.

with 80 tubs of breeders and grow outs,
    bottles just don't make sense.

WATER SYSTEM!!!! If you only have a few tubs water bottles are fine, but once you get past that, water systems are the only way to go. It's sooo much easier! Of course there are things that can go wrong and it needs to be checked every so often, but it's no where near as time consuming as water bottles.

I was leaning towards a water system, but I will only have around 4 or 5 tubs. And I was talking to a guy who breeds rodents and he switched to bottles due to tubs getting flooded once in a while. So I wanted to see if any of you have a problem with water systems.

    Thanks,

    Dave

ive only had 2 floods since i started breeding, both were because i didn't know smaller asf could fit through 1/2 inch mesh and they got out and chewed on the tubing... so kinda my fault on design part.

It does happen. Keep an eye on the valves by checking them every week. If you notice any leaking, fix or replace them.
