Best Bedding for the Buck?

I'm considering breeding rats for my snakes. I'm not sure what is the best bedding for the rats though. Is there a certain bedding that is better than another for odor and for burrowing their nest. Also is there anything else I should consider when buying bedding.

My brother is using the pelleted bedding they sell @ tractor supply it really keeps the stink down...

I mix aspen chips with shredded paper and baking soda and it does well.

Bucks smell more than does, but if you have proper circulation, it won't matter if you clean every 5-14 days.

I just use fine pine shavings.

I've been using aspen bedding form petsmart. The big bags of it last me about 3 months with four cages

pine shavings from rural king all the way, $4.75 after tax for a 85L compressed bag that expands to 212L you literally cannot beat that. 1 bale will keep my ~700 rodents in fresh bedding once a week for 3-4 weeks

i tried the pelleted stuff, it was terrible. stunk to high heaven and was a lot harder to clean iirc. it also costs more and takes up more storage room

Has anyone used corncob or the litter stuff? And is it worth using?

Corncob dont really do much for odor. And can be very rough on the rodents feet.

I use either soft pine shavings or pine pellets. Both work great for me.

Those that been to my house can vouch the pellets work well considering my rodents are in 82F room.

It does stink after a while with any animal. Natural odors are something you need to get used to then your good to go once your past that.

Pine shavings are the way to go. You want small feathery shavings. The saw dust is crap and the big coarse shavings are junk too.
