    Beginning to glow this early?
I've been pairing my normal female up with my spider male off and on (roughly 3 days on, 3 days off). A few days ago, I noticed she was getting lighter in color and her blushing seems to have exploded, especially right near her head and neck.

I began pairing them on 11/12/10 and have observed 4 definite locks. I am not feeling any follicles when I palpate her, but I'm not sure if I remember correctly when they start glowing during the breeding season. Do they start glowing before the development of follicles? Or after?

Right now she is sort of wrapped around her water bowl on the cool side. (All but her head and about 4 inches of her is wrapped around the bowl). She's getting fed today so we'll see how her appetite is today.

They will already be building follicles when you see the glow. Sometimes you will be able to feel them then and sometimes not. The glowing and bowl wrapping is a good sign though, keep pairing.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to get pictures of her today if I can.

My girl didn't start glowing till Jan 11th last season, but that's not too far off. It's quite possible she's glowing and definitely a good sign!

Yeah, I've been pairing my pied girl since October, and she's definitely starting to get a bit lighter and brighter. Or, anyway, her colored sections are...

And she's still got pretty small follicles. Marble-sized, maybe smaller. But she's been hugging her water bowl the last few weeks.

How long does the blushing last? Is it just like a 2-3 day glow? Or is it more like 2-3 weeks?

It sounds like you're on the right track! Has she ovulated yet??

Could just be a natural change. As most if not all females that glow usually ovulate 2-3 weeks after the glow.

No Glow as of yet but I keep walking in on Locks which I am super excited about. I will keep pairing them up and see what wonderful things happen.
Good Luck to all of my fellow breeders. :gj:
