Eggs in the winter... common or not?

Just wondering, how common is it for BPs to lay eggs in the winter? I do have a few in my collection who were born between Jan-March, and now I have an adult girl who's showing signs of building... so I want to be prepared if there's a chance she'll lay before spring!

A little background - Nerissa is around 3-4 years old, and apparently reabsorbed her follicles last season. She was locking with my pastel through late fall and winter, then I stopped for a few months to get her eating (she was on a 9-month fast), and she never laid eggs that summer. Now she's back to a good healthy weight, and has locked with my pastel twice in the last month... recently I caught her bowl-wrapping, and the following day she was slightly inverted like this:

Since she never laid eggs last year, is there a chance she's a bit ahead of schedule for this season? If so, what stage is she probably in right now? Just want to know what to expect, especially as I'm planning to move in about a month. :oops:

P.S. I apparently have no skills in palpating for follicles, so don't even ask... I could barely feel Mona's eggs within a month of her laying them, LOL. :D

LOL. Yeah, we only have ONE season here in the (coastal) Bay Area... foggy and 50-60 degrees. :P

depends when she ovulated, ball pythons don't care what month it is lol

technically ball pythons can breed year round if the conditions they are kept in are accurate.

Thanks for the replies! She's actually locked with my Mojave as I speak (type, LOL), so I guess it'll be a "who's the daddy" clutch if she ends up laying... he produced babies with Mona last year, so at least I know he's viable! Here's a shot of their current lock:

P.S. You can see one of his 2010 offspring (the only mojave from the clutch) in my current avatar... but Nerissa is MUCH lighter than that female, so I'm anxious to see if they produce lighter mojos (or pastels) together.

They normally lay between March and June. Good luck.

It's very possible if you were breeding her early enough. Some breeders breed year around. Heck Jon Courtney @ Cold Blooded Addiction has a bunch of eggs in the Incubator right now, and has females getting ready to lay!
