Is Coconut Husk Good Substrate?
I'm going to be getting all new enclosures for my snakes and would like to go for an all natural approach. I have seen those coconut bricks at pet stores, and I was wondering if they make good substrate.
Re: Is Coconut Husk Good Substrate?
in all honesty, they aren't bad, they hold moisture decently and they really kill smell, however, there is no substrate more annoying to clean, with exception to sand/moss mixtures, at least I've found that. In terms of safety and aesthetics though, yes, it's a good substrate. When it loses its deep brown colour, just mist it, thats how you know when its dry....or you can just feel it :P
