o-O is this sperm?

Nergal weighs about 500 grams or more right now, so he's almost big enough to breed (not that I have a female for him...)
I popped him today to see if maybe there were any sperm plugs, and a stringy thing came out from his cloaca. I pulled it out gently with my finger and the photos below are what it looked like. It was kinda moist at first but not after I took the pics--then it was dried, kinda like a booger out of your nose :D :D :D
So what the heck is this?

That's actually a hemipenial cast - i.e. shed hemipenial skin + other 'surrounding elements'.

"Sperm plugs" don't occur in ball pythons as they do in other species (i.e. Thamnophis sp).
