shed ?

so my BP is in shed but hes been dull and flaky for over 2 days, it doesnt look like hes tried to remove the shed himself its just coming off very slowly in small pieces, should i wait for him to try himself or should i soak him and help?

Sounds like it's time for a soak... :yes: ....and a review of your husbandry set-up to make sure you can maintain good humidity levels for future sheds. :)

I would give him some time to get it off himself. Double check your humidity -- Sometimes if the humidity isn't high enough they just kind of give up and leave it on. If he doesn't get it all off in 3-5 days then you should soak and help him along.

In general, if I see it coming off in flakes, that's usually when I choose to step in.

But yeah, this sounds like a humidity issue. What's the humidity in your tank?

its a real pain to keep the humidity level high because i live in the desert with basically 0% humidity all year long. i have a towel on top of the tank that i keep soaked along with my heat lamp above the water dish. the little pos hygrometer i got says its 65% right now, but i dont know how accurate that is, i figure as long as its above 60% it should be fine. i ordered a little humidifier off of ebay but it still hasnt arrived, its coming from hong kong.

Humidifiers can be a big help but make sure to watch your temps when using one as they tend to lower your temps a bit. The debate on analog vs. digital is a big one but I use a Flukers digital thermometer/hygrometer and it works fine for us.

Best advice I can give is to make sure that ~60% of the tank is covered by a nice damp towel, mist as frequently as needed (but the humidifier should take care of that) and if needed switch to a UTH as heat lamps kill humidity.
