    last minute temps q's...
so my little girl will finally be home on monday dec. 6th. i think i've finally managed to get the temps in her terrarium where they should be or very close. the warm side is and has been hovering at 90 and the cool side is up to 77. i was advised to get it to 80 but with the ambient temps in my home being a little low due to the fact that it's winter...that is the best i can do. i read on the care sheet that anything below 75 is unhealthy so is 77 ok? i'm sure i'll get varying answers on this one but i thought i'd run it by ya'll anyways.

What are you using to heat your tank (is it a tank or tub)?
How are you measuring your temps?

You could be fine with your cool side temps at 77 but I would personally try to get it at 80 just to be safe. If you bump your warm side up a couple of degrees your cool side should go up too depending on your set up.

i have a heat pad on the bottom of the left side of the terrarium and that's hooked up to a thermostat. the terrarium is a visionarium from creativepet.com. it has a plastic top and bottom, 3 glass sides & 2 front glass sliding doors so it's not a "tank" per say. i'm currently measuring the temps with a temp gun and the temps are checked every 2-3 days. i will be pickin' up an accu-rite digital thermometer/hygrometer so i can keep tabs on the humidity.
oh and the thermostat is set as high as it can go.

    Hi,

have you insulated the bottom, back and sides of the viv with either foam board, reflectix or cork sheeting?

Since you're only looking for a 3 degree bump up it has to be worth trying. :)
