King snake or a Ball python

For xmas im either gonna get a 100% het pied male or a mexican black female king snake so which one should i get and also can you give me some tips... goign to be my first snake:)

het pied boy! Het pied boys are the poor sad-eyed pound puppies of the ball python world.

Get the het pied boy!!

I can see it now, get a Normal female and then breed it to them..... Then grow the babies up and breed the 100% het male back to the 50% het females and then you might get some awesome pieds!!

And This is how it all starts congrats on you purchase (hopefully) of the one that turns to many many more...........:D

Get the BP! Duh....You know we're all going to vote for that! LOL! Plus Pied are so AWSOME!

I'd vote ball python, especially if it's going to be a first snake, simply because I find they're a lot more tractable than king snakes. The fact that it's going to be het. pied is also really good, because if you ever decide to get into breeding in the future it opens many doors for you.

Actually, between a kingsnake and a ball python, the kingsnake is the better starter snake for the super newbie. Kingsnakes are not as "finicky" as a ball python and a lot more forgiving of husbandry mistakes.
