    S373 question and discussion
So we have all hopefully been sending letters in to our local senators and supporting USARK in their mission to get S373 hopefully thrown out. But how much does everyone really know about it?

As far as what species are being banned..I've heard that it includes every species of the python genera(which I'm pretty sure would include ball pythons??) to just the 9 species that the USGS had on their list(all those awesome big snakes*burms, retics, boas, anacondas, and rocks*).

So please everyone post what you know about this bill as far as the species being banned, the poor science that this law is based upon, and just keep spreading the word so that we can stop the foolish government from taking away our snakes!!!

As of right now, S373 lists only the 9 species.

I wanted to get into retics next year but now I'm scared to because I dont want to drop a couple thousand to get started to just have it all taken away by some stupid law...

Bill Nelson is our US Senator from here in Florida.

I emailed him and placed particular emphasis on not including boa constrictor on that list of 9 snakes.

Nelson refuses to budge. He says boa constrictor has an established population south of Miami.

Nelson also says that the reason they are banning the big 9 is not just because of their size; more specifically, it is because of the big 9's particular impact on the local ecosystem.

Nelson is fooling no one here. This isn't about the ecosystem. Nelson just doesn't like big snakes.
