    More chondro photos...
These guys are ~2 years old from a clutch we hatched out in 2009. The second one is the melanistic (or mite phase...whatever you want to call it) one that I posted the photos of the other day. I liked the lighting of this new setup a little more than the previous one so I grabbed some more shots last night.

WOW!! Beautiful chondros and shots! A few questions...what lighting were you using? It really brings out their colors. Also, will the second snake keep the red color in its eyes or will that eventually change? Thanks :)

Jessica - Thanks! I was using a real simple setup...

My basic rule is that I hate flash and avoid using it at all costs. In the "Melanistic Chondro" thread, I used flash with the mite phase one because it brought out the contrast a little more but it looks like crap IMO.

For this one, I had a 100 W GE Reveal bulb clipped to one side and I was taking photos without flash towards a darkened room instead of a backdrop. Like I said...not real fancy!

The red eyes will go away as it gets older (unless I'm really lucky and have somehow stumbled into an unknown area of chondro genetics! :D). They'll end up the same greenish-silver color as any other chondro eye.

Great advice, thank you! I'm looking forward to photographing our new guys in the future and really had no idea on how to get a more natural looking shot.

And their color change is so incredible to me I'm still trying to wrap my head around chondro genetics and how they may effect adult coloration.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to do a natural looking ball python shot... I can't really drape them over branches like this...lol
