    Fake Shed? Help!
So my snake was showing signs of going into her 4th shed. woo hoo!
I upped the humidity in her tank,
she went thru the whole fading and eyes going blue,
a couple days later is back to normal color....then shes supposed to shed, right?
    oddly enough....she didnt...
its been 3 days now since she went back to normal color. Ive looked ALL over her enclosure for her shed skin...and theres nothing.
did she just not shed? eat it? what happened?
    what should I doooo
    she tricked me :(

It can take longer than 3 days...or even 5 days. Just be patient, and keep the humidity levels elevated some. They don't eat it. ;)

You don't HAVE to skip a meal if you don't want to. Some snakes eat while in shed. Some are ready to eat once the blue phase is past. Sometimes the act of eating will help crack the skin around the face and begin the shedding process.

But...it won't hurt her to wait a couple more days until the shed is complete either. Whatever you think is best.

she has eaten during shed in the past, but i wasnt sure if feeding her at this point is still a good idea. but i guess it is?
if its right at the beginning Ive fed her and she took it but I didnt know if she would eat if she is really ABOUT to shed..i dono.

ooo and i have another question if you feel like answering hehe...

she is right now in a 29 gallon tank. i have read on some sites that the 29 is enough for an adult ball python though I feel like itd be small, especially after adding hides and branches, etc.

I've been thinking about going ahead and getting her a 40 gallon, which i have also read is the proper size for a full grown ball.

now here is my question. I got her as a baby in May. she is now pretty thick, and about as long as my arm (maybe 2ft+ ?) i guess i should actually measure her...

is a 40 gallon too big for her now? should I wait?
cus i read that if the enclosure is too big they get nervous and wont eat
and i dont want my booboo to be uncomfortable :(

Given that they spend 95% of their lives asleep in as tight a little cave as they can find...I think the 29gal is fine. I certainly wouldn't look into changing it anytime soon. Maybe, if she grows into a 3000+gram big girl, you might give her some more room....but that's not anything you need to worry about now. If she's eating regularly and seems confident in her home, and you've got the environment all nice and settled...I wouldn't try to fix what isn't broken! :D

Just my opinion but I think its really hard to have "to small" of a tub/cage for a bp within reason.

I have a 1800 gram in a 28qt and she acts more "Happy" in that then she does a 41qt tub so...

I wouldn't switch her until she is about 1500 grams, a 29 gallon can hold lots of branches and hides, you can view my gallery to see some of my set ups. I have 10,20 long, and 30 gallon critter cages. The only difference between 40 gallon and 30 gallon critter cages is the height. Since all of my tanks are on metal racks, shorter is better for me.
