It really depends on what the ambient room temperature is. If your room doesn't get too cold, back heat is the best option. If it gets cold, belly heat would be the best. I've found back heat gives me an equal temp gradient on all my tubs, with belly heat giving me unbalanced heat, due to the fact there is a heat strip above as well as below. Although, back heat isn't the best option if the room temps drop, it will have a difficult time heating up large tubs. This is from my personal experience.

That pretty much answered my question. The ambient room temp is 76-77 constant, so I think for the new rack I will go with back heat. I haven't tried it before, but I also don't like the variation I get from the racks with belly heat. Just wanted some opinions before I ordered it with back heat. Thanks!

Personally I like belly heat but i do use both. I use belly on my bigger cages and back on my baby bins.

If you have larger tubs with that room temperature your tub will be that temp in the front with back heat. This is too cool unless you're breeding. BG isn't saying it can't be done, but your tubs are not going to be at optimal temps for your Ball Pythons.

A baby rack tub you might get away with it, but not larger tubs. BG has always preferred belly heat..... he will only use back heat for babies.:gj:
