is my 1100g female ready for breeding?

i just would want to know if there have been instances where a 1100g female was successfully bred?tnx!

Has it been done? Probably, but I would never do it. 1100 is far too small to breed a female. Ball python eggs are large, and a small ball is just not suitable to lay healthy eggs.

1100 grams is a little small! I would wait until she is a little bigger! You may be able to breed her in the beginning of the new year if fed well!

shes too small, u should wait. there have been times where big breeders like BHB bred small females and small males but that is when they were trying to prove out new morphs or breeding new morphs. and even they dont advise doing it. if u breed too early a lot of terrible things can happen to her

Last year my lesser was 1100 grams and on and off feed. I threw a male in with her to try to get her to eat. She ended up gravid at 1220 grams and gave me five perfect eggs in July. She is already upto 1500 grams and ready to go again. This it what she gave me!

While it is generally not advisable, the most important question here is: How old is the female? I have a Het. Clown girl that gave me her first clutch of eggs when she was a bit under 1200 grams. Now, I bred her, because she was 3 years old, and just a small snake. Since then, she has given me another clutch of eggs 2 years ago, and still never made it to 1500 grams. She took last year off, and is a sporadic feeder at best now, but at 5 years old, she still isn't 1500 grams, and has laid two clutches of eggs.

So the real answer is, while it is risky for any age female, I would not breed a sub 1300 gram animal that wasn't at least 3 years old (this all takes into consideration that the animal appears healthy and is not light due to lack of feeding or other health issues).

If the female is healthy and eating non stop, i see no problems pairing her up. If she takes then she takes. During breeding she should eat and gain more weight.

I have 3 09s breeding right now over 1500grams still eating and expecting 1800+ by ovy.
