Help! RTB Stuck Inside Couch!
My friend's 6ft long RTB climbed into the arm rest part of her couch and won't come out! He has been in there for about an hour, and we don't want to yank him out because we don't want him (or ourselves) to get splinters.
Any suggestions on ways to gently coax him out without injury to us or the snake?
Thanks!
Re: Help! RTB Stuck Inside Couch!
I had a BP climb into a couch one time, because my lady isnt very fond of snakes I couldnt wait over night to let him come out on his own. I had to rip the couch to pieces and even then I though I would never find him. He managed to coil himself around one of the springs in the couch. Took me a long time to get him out but he was fine. The couch, not so much. :P
Good luck getting him out.

I would think that "wriggling him around" might be having the complete opposite affect that you want. The more you mess with him, the more determined he will be to dig in tighter.
Hopefully the heat mat will help...and if you don't want to cut open the couch or other similar drastic measures...you may have to resign yourself to spending as many quiet hours in the room as possible without messing with the couch at all. When he finally feels like everything is still and quiet and there are no more threats....then he may venture out to explore. (Unfortunately, they are WAY more patient than we are...and this "waiting for still and quiet" could take a few hours or a few days! :O )

Ohhh...another couple of suggestions:
1. Surround the sofa with plastic grocery bags so that he can't crawl away from it without making noise that will alert you.
2. If it comes time to go to bed and still no sign of snakie....put down a layer of flour on the floor around the sofa. This will show his tracks if he comes out in the night while you're sleeping. Depending on how crazy you want to get with the flour, you may even be able to track him to a new hiding place. Messy? Yeah...but might be worth it if it keeps you from losing the little booger all together.
Good luck!!
